We are Laura Cochrane and Jennifer Krause. Two animal care professionals with 25 years of combined experience in the veterinary, animal protection, advocacy, wellness and pet care industries. We share a collective experience and a commitment to spread joy and goodness to cats and the people who love them.
Dr. Laura Cochrane worked in private veterinay practice for several years then in shelter medicine and high volume spay/neuter. Eventually, she took on the role of Managing Director at 1st Care Animal Health Clinics , establishing some of Los Angeles' highest standards of care for a mobile wellness and preventive care clinic.
Laura proudly joined The Paw Project as their Oregon Director in 2014. The Paw Project's mission is to educate the public about the painful and crippling effects of feline declawing, to promote animal welfare through the abolition of the practice of declaw surgery, and to rehabilitate cats that have been declawed.
Realizing that cat owners needed more support when it comes to inappropriate scratching, she launched Dr. Kind Klaws, a "house call" service offering nail maintenance, including nail caps and monthly nail trims for cats.
Jennifer Krause grew up in Austin, Texas but has called Los Angeles and now NE Portland "home sweet home." In her past life, she worked in television production but for the past decade, her focus has been her true cause -- animal care, welfare, advocacy and protection.
In Los Angeles, she worked for Best Friends Animal Society. During those 8 years, she produced large-scale pet adoptions, celebrity fundraising events, developed and executed life-saving "No Kill" programs, educational and legislative campaigns. All the while, caring and adopting out hundreds of pets along the way.
For the past two years while in Portland, she's managed a cat hotel and provided in-home pet care for north/east Portlanders. Her 'happy place' is spending time with animals and offering their humans the best, possible standard of care. To visit her pet care website, click here.
